Top 10 in 2012

Looking back on the blog in 2012 is kind of a sad showing compared to 2011. The projects have been fewer, the tips not quite as good, and the growth has been minimal. But when I look back on my personal life-wow, what a year. I've grown in ways I never thought possible, I've learned that I'm stronger that I ever realized, and that as tough as the last 6 months have been-in a way, they've also been some of the best days of my life.

That being said-I decided to jump on the bandwagon and do a quick Top 10 post of my own. So, without further ado here are the most viewed posts in 2012.

Homemade Crock-Pot Wassail

Christmas truly is the best time of year. We are surrounded by those we love, doing things that help bring us closer together and that benefit those less fortunate than we are. This year is even more precious to me simply because I am so grateful to still be in this life and to have the opportunity to celebrate with those I love most.

Growing up, my family had quite a few Christmas traditions that I love and one of them is the smell of homemade Wassail cooking in the crock-pot on a snowy day. As a child, there was nothing better than coming home from school on a cold, snowy day and having a cup of hot Wassail and a chocolate chip cookie and telling my mom all about my day.

As an adult, I still love being able to curl up with a cup and my favorite book while the snow falls outside. When I was making a batch of this last week I realized I had to share it with you. I have tried so many different kinds of wassail and none of them compare to this homemade version. Homemade is always better than store bought.

Monthly Meal Planning

This week I'm taking a page out of Marissa's book and sharing our monthly meal plan. Morgan and I love cooking and having home cooked meals almost every night. When we were first married I would spend a couple hours every two weeks planning out our weekly menu and subsequent grocery list. After about a year I finally just gave up even doing a meal plan because it was just to stressful. So I adopted my sister's brilliant idea of having a month long meal plan that we used every month.

It made it so that we could have our favorite recipes, still have a couple days to try new recipes, and it makes grocery shopping so much easier. Because I know which recipes we'll be having each month (for the most part) I just check the sales and stock up on things we use each month when they go on sale.

So, here is our monthly meal plan-

We have two date nights a month and our "free nights" end up being one of two things, a night to be lazy (a.k.a. cereal for dinner) or a chance to try out a new Pinterest recipe.

2012 Family Pictures

I love getting pictures done each year. Even though they aren't Morgan's favorite and some people think it's weird because we don't have any kids yet, I am insistent that we do them every year.

*Warning-picture overload!

The first year was our wedding pictures-

This year we enlisted the help of a very talented friend of mine. Melanie and I went to high school and I am always blown away with her pictures so I contacted her earlier this year to see if she had any openings. My first thought was to have the pictures done in the summer when everything is so green. Unfortunately around the time we were supposed to have pictures done, I went and got hit by a car, which put plans back a little bit. So after a few months I finally got to the point where I could stand up and walk around enough to have pictures done. And Melanie didn't disappoint! She did a little preview over on her blog-Melanie Isaac Photography-a few days ago but I wanted to share some of my favorites from the shoot.

My Road to Recovery

If you're a regular you may notice that I moved things around a bit on my sidebar. I also added a few things like the super flattering picture of me you can find to the left.

In the past few weeks I've had emails from a few readers and friends asking for a place where they could find all of the posts related to my accident in one person. And I'm here to deliver.

It's been about a year since I've done anything with html code which is why is took me way longer than it should have to figure everything out. But this little button-

Will take you to this page where you will find any and all posts accident related. I have to give a shout out to Ashley from Lil Blue Boo (you all know how much I love her) who gave me the idea on how to set the page up.

Again, I have to express my thanks for the countless prayers that have been offered in my behalf. And the wonderful comments and emails that have been sent this way. You are all wonderful people!
