All you need is LOVE

Good morning folks! I've got a fun tutorial to share with you today-this was the project I submitted for the second round of Creative Bloggers Got Talent. I didn't make it to round 3 but my good friend Erin over at How to Nest for Less did and I'm SO excited for her. She is so talented and has the ability to go all the way!

I had Mojo pick up some free pallets for a me a few weeks ago and had originally planned to build a sideboard out of them. After many trials and errors we eventually had to give up on that idea-so I decided to make us a new headboard.

We started by sawing off 6 pieces of wood and then reattached them and whitewashed the whole thing. Normally when people do a white wash it's a brighter white but I still wanted the original color of the wood to show through so I did a really light stain. I mixed 2 parts latex paint with 1.5 parts water.

Then I took some letters I had on hand painted them that fabulous apple red color I love. Unfortunately the letters had a few imperfections so after they were painted they didn't look as great as I would have liked. So I decided to work with the imperfections and ended up sanding the letters a little to bit. I love the rough look it gave them.

Then I spray painted "All you need is" onto the wood and attached the letters-

And we hung it up on the wall-

I love how it turned out and the character it has! Thanks to everyone who voted and don't forget to keep voting-there are some seriously talented ladies still left!

Pallet projects are awesome. I love the rustic look of this and it came together so well. Loving the lettering and the message. I'm super impressed it made it up on the cinder block walls too.
