Tutorial Tuesday #21

Good Morning all-we have lots of fun features this week so let's jump right in

Spiced up Ikea Expedit from My Crazy Beautiful Life

Decoupaged Letters  from A Simple Life

Bonjour Mug  from Crafty Butt

Goodwill Re-do from Vintage Shabby Chic

Lima Bean Wreath  from Lil Pink Pocket

Thanks to everyone who linked up last week-I can wait to see what you guys have been up to this week. For those of you featured be sure to grab your button in the side bar and display it with pride ----------->

Also, I've decided to slow down a little bit on the blog. I've tried to consistantly post every day Monday through Friday but the blog has started to take over my craft and has taken me away from what I really want to do. Which is craft and continue to decorate my apartment.

So of course Tutorial Tuesday will continue each week and I'll continue to post at least 2 times a week-hopefully mostly tutorials. I'm hoping to get back to deocrating, crafting, and enjoying time with my hubby and new friends.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday!

Shabby Apple Dresses

I was so excited to wake up this morning to an email in my inbox asking if I'd like to become an affiliate with Shabby Apple dresses.

Of course I would! If you haven't heard of Shabby Apples you need to check these dresses out. A few of my favorite are-

There are so many options and each dress is amazing. If I had limitless amounts of money I would buy all of them and only ever wear dresses!

I hope you check them out-I know you'll fall in love with them as much as I am, if you haven't already.

And be sure to check back in here tomorrow for Tutorial Tuesday. It's still a pretty small link party and I've thought of cancelling it a few times but I can't. I love it to much.

Even if only a few people link up each week I love reading about all your amazing projects-you guys always inspire me.
So the party will go on! See you tomorrow.

My MIL told me that it's normal to gain weight after you get marred-it means your happy. That's all fine and dandy until I go to put on a shirt this morning that fit a year ago-and now all of a sudden it's busting at the seams. Let's just say I didn't have the best morning because of it.

Not only does my sister who just had her third child weigh less then me (huge self-esteem blow there) but I have reached an unhealthy point in my life. And I don't like it.

Some may think that I haven't gained that much weight and am beating myself up over nothing-but the biggest thing that bother's me is that I don't FEEL good. I walk up one flight of stairs and I'm huffing. And for the past year or so I've put a lot of junk into my body. It's not a good thing. It makes it so that I'm not sleeping well and I don't feel comfortable in my own skin.

Mojo and I have been trying to eat more balanced meals-but it's not enough. Exercise (as much as I despise it) needs to become a regular part of my daily routine. I don't want to look down at myself and see "the gut" or wear a swim suit and see that my thighs are now larger then they've ever been-and I'm starting to get stretch marks. Not. Okay.

Mojo and I had talked about walking to school every day while the weather is so nice. But school started Monday-and we've only walked one day. Which doesn't look good for the future.

So I turned to Pinterest for Motivation and found these short (but effect) exercises:

Niether of these exercises take very long-but all of them are effective.

So here's my goal-I'm putting it on this blog so that I can have someone to account to.

By September 5th, that's Labor Day and about a week and a half away-I want to lose 2 pounds. That doesn't seem very hard right?

Two tiny little pounds-I'm sure I can do that.

How am I going to do it?

1-Drink LOTS of water!!
2-Continue to eat lots of Fruits and Veggies
3-Continue to eat well balanced meal
4-Walk to work at least 3 times a week and do the Couch Workout and Starter's Exercise Plan 4 times a week.
5-Repeat the words "I can do it" every morning, afternoon, and night.

The last one may seem strange but I've always had self-esteem issues and I need a daily reminder-from myself-that I can and will do it. It's my own form of motivation.

So here goes. I'm taking the plunge-again. It's time to stop letting my urge for sweets control how I feel.

My SIL is an amazing inspiration to me. She is great at making healthy, delicious foods and keeping herself looking and feeling good. She also has an amazing, insightful, and funny blog-The Highly Educated Housewife that I think you should all check out.

Here's to looking and feeling better!

P.S. I'm taking the plunge and am entering Sew Dang Cute's Crafting with the Stars competition on September 1st. I'm starting a whole new project this weekend to submit and am SO excited about it-there will be fabric, bunting, and tables abounding in my house but I can't wait to show it off to all of you! If you haven't heard of Crafting with the Stars-click on the link to see what it's all about and why I'm so excited for it!

Canvas Re-do

As you all know-I'm still working on the design of this blog. I just hate the idea of shelling out money to someone when I know I can figure it out myself. I'm planning on doing another html code tutorial like this one later on this week to share all the fun stuff I've learned!

And of course Tutorial Tuesday goes through Saturday so if you haven't linked up yet or your new to the party be sure to hope on over so I can showcase how inspiring your are!

And I also added a few pages yesterday we now of a go-to page for Guest Posting and Advertising. If your interested in either of those be sure to check them out for all the info.

Now lets get down to business. I have been so inspired by all the projects and re-do's I've seen through Pinterest and my weekly blog hopping lately. But I haven't had the time, money, or inspiration to do any new things lately. Well that's changed-Mojo is back in school which means I have 3 hours every Monday night where I'm home by myself. What better time to craft??

Of course that doesn't solve the money and inspiration part-but I think I've found a solution. I'm still working on finishing our "master" bedroom and have decided to take all the things I love from Pinterest and blogs I read and combine them into one awesome wall-in a classy and couture way of course.

The first piece I've completed come from this disastrous attempt at abstract art it was after I had made my dot painting and I seemed to think I was some sort of abstract artist. That wasn't the case.

Never-the-less I found a way to make up for my mistake. I took that paint covered canvas and covered it in newspaper shreddings with a nice thick layer of modge podge.

Then I let it dry and covered with a coat of white acrylic paint and then a light grey paint I had used for my wedding. Because I pasted the newspaper all over the place without any care to texture it gave it this wonderful chucky texture. It sounds weird but trust me it give it so much more depth and character.

Then I simply took the "R" from my summer initials and painted it black and positioned it in the middle of the canvas. I like to think it's very modern and fun. And I love how it looks in the room with these bad boys hanging over the bed.

This picture shows the texture a little better and well as the white that just barely picks through the grey paint

I'm in love. Oh and did I mention this project was free? Made up of all re-purposed items. That's something a budget savvy girl like me can love!

Of course I can't show you where it's at now because that would ruin the reveal of the whole wall. But sit tight I've got lots more fun tutorials to show you that go along great with this little piece.

Have a fantastic "hump" day-only a few more days till the weekend!

P.S. Be honest with me-is the new header to big? I like it but is it to much of a pain to scroll down to see the actual post? I'm trying to design sometime I love that's also easy for my readers to enjoy my site with so any feed back you can give me would be MUCH appreciated!

Tutorial Tuesday #20

Good morning folks! Sorry this is getting up a little late this morning-Mojo and I had a busy busy day yesterday with the start of school and I fell into bed exhausted before I had a chance to get this up. I promise it won't happen again though :)

Alright-on to the party!

Isn't this cake absolutely fantastic?? Such an adorable party put on by Amy from MoMomma. She even has a great step-by-step tutorial for people like me who struggle and making cakes!

Next we have this fabulous Flea Market table redo from How to Nest for Less. I love that she personalized it but it's still classy. And of course I always love a good redo!

I am all about no sew! Since I'm not lucky enough to have my own sewing machine I'm always looking for new sew patterns. And I'm loving these new sew curtains submitted by Denyse over at My Crazy Beautiful Life. I think they look fantastic-if only I had more windows in my apartment!

Thanks to everyone who linked up last week-I can't wait to see what you've been up to this week!

Remember there are no rules but I would love it if you grabbed my button on the sidebar ---------->
so that others can join in the fun as well!

Making Memories of Us

The past three months have been a blast! Mojo and I have made so many memories our first summer being married and it makes me so excited for the next 50 years!

It all started out on a sunny May afternoon when we said I do!

And had a wonderful reception surrounded by our closest family and friends.

We spent lots of time at the Reynolds Family Cabin that was just built this year at Bear Lake. We enjoyed time at the beach, exploring the Minnatonka Caves, relaxing, and spending time with friends and family.

We've started to get to know our neighbors. We've had BBQ's and watched movies out on the lawn in our court. We've played with the kids in our buildings and shared horror stories about our apartment with those who understand it best.

We've enjoyed time spent with visiting family and started planning to visit family in France next year.

We've spent every waking moment that we could together. Getting to know things about each other that you can only learn when living with another person. We've stayed up late talking about all the places we want to go and the things we want to do. We've grown closer in just the 3 short months we've been married.

I've spent way to much time pursuing Pinterest and being inspired. I've dreamed of all the things I want to do for my home. Redo a dresser, paint my chairs, upholster my craft chair, etc.

Morgan has been busy working at a computer science summer camp, playing with robots, and getting kids excited about engineering.

We've been busy but we've also relaxed and enjoyed the lazy days of summer.

So with the start of school today it's time to say goodbye to hot summer afternoons, going on a spontaneous camping trip, and being lazy.

It's time to buckle down and get ready for winter. The next three months will be filled with books to read, homework to do, papers to write, and projects to finish.

Our shorts will be traded in for long pants and our t-shirts will turn into sweaters and coats. We'll put boots on our feet and put away our sandals.

The leaves will become brilliant shades of orange, red, and yellow. Slowly they will fall and winter will come once again.

And we will continue to make memories together. Always there for each other and ready to take on the next adventure in life.

Summer is fading slowly and winter is coming so be sure to enjoy your last few moments before they slip through your fingers. Take the time to make memories that will last-because at the end of the day that's all that matter.

I hope you all have a fantastic Monday! I can't wait to showcase your stuff tomorrow at Tutorial Tuesday!

More Awesome Features!

You guys were so fantastic last week that I had to do more than just 4 features! I'm loving everything I've seen so far in this weekly link up and can't wait to showcase those next week.

I love this colorful display from Craftionary it reminds me of the fun colors I did on my gallery wall.

I liked this yogurt recipie because my SIL and I were discussing homemade yogurt just last week-I'm going to have to try this out soon. Thanks to Chelsea from A Simple Life for linking this up!

And I love love love this table tutorial from What the Graham? I talked about wanting to make a table for a while now and I still want to-this easy to follow tutorial makes me want to even more!

Excited to see what else you guys link up this week! I'm headed on a mini-vacation to Bear Lake again but this time with my family. I'm super excited to hang out with my siblings and adorable nieces/nephews. Tutorial Tuesday #19

It's come around again-another Tutorial Tuesday! We had 35 entries last week-the most we've had so far! I was blown away-BIG thanks for everyone who linked up last week. We had so many awesome projects linked up that I decided to do two feature posts this week so watch out for more awesome features tomorrow!

I love these painted shoes from Southern Lovely! All the things you can do with spray paint. I've already pulled a pair of old shoes out of closet and am trying to decide what the perfect color will be for them. Head on over to check out the awesome tutorial!

Vintage Shabby Chicks did this amazing redo on an old dresser they found at an estate sale. Unfortunately with my small craft budget I have to save up before I can afford to do any big pieces but anytime I see one like this I'm so inspired!

Oh how I wish I had a pantry-any type of closet pantry would work really. I wish I had a pantry so I could do fun things and make it look pretty like PB&J Stories did. Doesn't it look fantastic?

I think this office chair redo was fantastic! We see a lot of traditional chairs recovered around the internet but I hadn't seen an office chair before this one and I LOVE it! It turned out fantastic-great job by Candice from She's crafty.

Stay tuned for some more features tomorrow and I can't wait to see you what you've all be up to this week! I've also enabled the "like" feature-which mean you can like your favorite!

Remember there aren't any rules-but I'd love it if you spread the word around.

$0 crafts make me happy!

It feels like forever since I've posted a tutorial on here. I often dream of days without a full time job where I can craft to my hearts content without life getting in the way.

Realistically of course that's never going to happen-but a girl can dream right?

As usual I tired of the summer initials I had hanging on my door and decided to go back to a wreath. I have an abundance of Bed Bath and Beyond purple ribbon thanks to my wedding and needed a way to make a dent in my huge stash.

So I took my wreath that I used in my yellow crepe paper wreath, my glue gun, and some scraps of scrapbook paper from my coasters and came up with this wreath.

First I had to pull of all the crepe paper from my last wreath-it took a while and I ended up leaving some pieces on simply because I got tired of pulling them all off.

Then I took my ribbon and wound it around the wreath securing it with scotch tape (gasp!). I know scotch tape has a bad rap but to be honest after pulling off all the crepe paper that I hot glued gun on I just couldn't bring myself to glue the ribbon on. And the scotch tape is perfectly hidden-so there!

After I had wrapped the entire wreath I took my left over scrap book paper and cut a bunch of circles out of it-they don't have to be exact and they don't necessarily have to be circle, a lot of mine looked more oval like.

Then I simply folded the circles in on themselves like you would a paper fan

I did the same with the entire paper and simply hot glued the two pieces together. Then I did hot glue the flowers to the wreath-I wasn't planning on using the ribbon again so I didn't need to try and save it like I did the wreath .

Aren't those "flowers" so pretty? Here it is hanging proudly on my door.

My FUGLY door looks a little better now with a pretty wreath.

Alright, I'm done with pictures. This was an easy project that helped brighten up my door a little bit. I even got a compliment on it from a neighbor tonight-sawheet!

Hope everyone has a great Monday!
