Welcome to my new home

Good morning all-it's about 7:30 this morning here and unfortunately I'm awake because the window in my bedroom faces East-one of the first thing I'm going to do is put a black curtain over that window. Who knew such a tiny window could make it so BRIGHT!

So I moved yesterday-in the snow-it was awesome. It actually went really well we had a lot of people show up to help us out and they were able to knock out pretty fast. I thought I'd give you a peak of my new apartment.

Here's my AWESOME kitchen. Any great chef would love to have this-look at all that space!

And my living room-we should be getting a couch from Mojo's sister on Monday.

The "kitchen" was already painted green and it just happens to go with the colors of my kitchen-that was nice.

The office-I haven't even started unpacking in here. You can see my Dot Painting sitting on the chair. Not sure how I'm going to hang that up on this....

Cinder block walls-yup we are THAT cool.

 And who doesn't love having a bedroom that you can barely fit your bed?

Welcome to my new home for the next 2+ years. It's actually really roomy for married student housing. Mojo and I both love it despite its imperfections and we are so excited to start out our life here. The neighbors are having a little party Sunday afternoon that we're hoping to be able to go to and meet everyone. There are a lot of little kids but we're on the top floor and for the most part our apartment is SILENT! Which is awesome-I moved from my parents house to a house of 5 girls living together and I've never experienced and apartment before so I was really worried about the noise level. But so far so good.

I'm hoping to have all this stuff unpacked and start decorating soon-Ill be sure to show you all the finished product. Hope you all have an awesome Saturday!

Fit and Fabulous Friday #3

This is going to have to be a quick post. First off have you entered the awesome Pampered Chef Giveaway I'm having? If not your missing out on some awesome stuff up for grabs.
Okay it's Friday-wahoo! It's also moving day and I have to work all day and then move tonight (I'm a little stressed about that)
This week really sucked as far as weight loss goes. When I get stressed I stop eating-not sure why but I'm never hungry when I'm stressed. You would think this would be a good thing-but it's not because then my body goes into starvation mode so that when I do eat it holds on to EVERYTHING!! And I only had time to do one short 30 min run this week. That's it! 
Man, looking back I feel sick about this week. I should have done more-I did do pretty good about staying in my 1200 calorie limit but that's not enough. 
So as of this morning.....
I gained 1.5 lbs this weekI've lost 4 lbs so farI want to lose 1.5 lbs more before my wedding which is in 12 days....not sure if that's going to happen but hopefully after I get done moving tonight I'll be less stressed and have more time to workout.
That's my weigh in this week-sorry it's so short but I have to get to work!

Pampered Chef {GIVEAWAY}

I am so excited about today's post! I still consider myself a blogging newbie and so I was over the top ecstatic when independent Pampered Chef consultant Hollie Murdock approached me about doing a give away on my blog. I love all of my awesome readers and I love finding great products to give you guys-if you haven't had the opportunity to try out pampered chef you want to win this giveaway! So when we hit 50 Google Friend Followers earlier this week I was so excited to be able to sit down and come up with some awesome stuff to give you.

My mom has been using Pampered Chef for as long as I can remember and now I've registered for it for my own wedding. Hollie hosted my Pampered Chef bridal shower and it was a HUGE success. Not only did she make us a yummy dinner but I got to try out all the fun stuff I registered for. Like this amazing deep dish baker....

I am so excited for this bad boy. At my shower Hollie made fajitas in the MICROWAVE in 15 MINUTES!! Seriously, she took raw chicken and all the raw veggies, added some of Pampered Chef's seasoning and popped it in the microwave. 15 minutes later-it was ready to eat. I can't not begin to tell you how excited I am to use this. 

I'm also very excited for this cookbook....

It's so hard to determine how much you actually need to use of a recipe without ending up with a months worth of leftovers. Mojo is a great cook and with his help I've started being able to hold my own in the kitchen and I love that we can cook together and make enough for the two of us without having to beg the neighbors to take some before it all goes bad. 

Alright, I know you guys don't really care what I'm getting for my wedding-you want to know what YOU can win.

So we have some really fun stuff to giveaway today-first up is this adorable pumpkin dish. This is a specialty product that is only available in October but because Hollie has heard me talk about how much I LOVE Halloween-she was able to get me one to give to one of you. I know that October isn't for a few months but in my opinion you can never have to much stuff for Halloween and Fall in general. 

I wish I could show you a picture of what it looks like but no such luck. Because it's a specialty item-it's not even listen on the pampered chef website and I want to send it to the lucky winner brand new so I can't crack it open to show you guys. But trust me-it's adorable!

To go along with your new pumpkin dish we have these awesome microfiber dishcloths. I. LOVE. THESE. TOWELS. They are amazing-they wipe up pretty much every spill you can possible think of and they come in these awesome colors. I mean really...who wouldn't like a purple and orange towel? Think of all the amazing DIY projects you could do in your kitchen to tie these towels in....are you coming up with as many ideas as I am?

Next up (yup we're still going) you saw how excited I was for the cookbook so I decided that I wanted you guys to be able to make some yummy treats as well. So we have the Season's Best Book. Check out the cupcakes on the front page....that alone makes me kind of want to keep this book all to myself. But I wouldn't do that to you guys......

And lastly we have the Pampered Chef Chocolate Raspberry Sauce. I think you should re-read that sentence again. Chocolate....Raspberry....Sauce. It's the wee hours of the morning here and that sounds delicious. I knew I should have gotten some for me as well.....

Tutorial Tuesday #4

Congratulations on overcoming another Monday! It really is an accomplishment and you all deserve and round of applause.

So....some fun updates. I'm having my bridals done tomorrow (is that just a Utah thing?) and am excited to see how they turn out. It's supposed to snow here tomorrow (don't complain to me about weather in unless you live in Utah winter starts in October and ends in May-you think I'm kidding) so I'm doing my pictures inside the state capital. I'm actually really excited about it-it's beautiful inside and I think it'll turn out fantastic-now I just have to channel my inner America's Next Top Model.

Okay on to the fun stuff. This really is one of my favorite posts of the week-I love blog hopping all week long to bring you these amazing tutorials. And I don't kid when I say I want to do each and every one of them. I am finishing up a few projects that will be posted in the next day or two and I can not WAIT till this Friday when I'm finally in the new apartment and can start hanging up all my crafts.

Okay so our first tutorial comes from While he was napping a great blog with some awesome tutorials. I thought this memo board was adorable-and I loved that she used scrap paper! Heaven knows I have plenty of that laying around-which means when I get around to doing this project (which I will) it won't cost anything because I'll have everything on hand. Check it and all her other awesome tutorials out. You won't be disappointed I promise.

Okay if I lived a beach anywhere I want to have this hanging in my craft room. It's pretty and simplistic and just so....awesome you can find it at Attempting Aloha It's how I imagine my dream craft room to be-clean, simplistic, and full of inspirational pieces like this. Right now my craft room is in boxes strewn throughout my living room as I prepare to move but I'll get my own craft room one day. Seriously though-go check it out.

This third tutorial is adorable and SO inexpensive. I just happened to buy 6 rolls of crepe paper tonight at the dollar store which means I have everything I need to complete this project already-sweet! Jessa Jill makes it so easy to follow along and I love where she put it-it fits in so perfectly.

And just to switch things up a bit this week we're heading over to Let Birds Fly for a delicious Peanut-Butter Chocolate Smoothie. I happen to be on a diet for my wedding right now which means I can't have this for a few more weeks but I thought that all you lucky people who aren't starving themselves should have the opportunity to indulge in this yummy treat. Manic Monday

I apologize for Mojo not posting yesterday for his weekly Sunday's with Mojo. This weekend has been kind of hectic for us. We were running all over the place on Saturday helping my sister move and packing up our houses getting ready to move. Then yesterday we had dinner with Mojo's parents for Easter.

But never fear I am back on schedule this week. This week I have a LOT going on as well. Tomorrow I only work 1/2 a day because I'm getting my bridals done and then I move on Friday and I still have so much to do for that.  But I'm excited-the wedding is getting so close-only 16 days! I can't believe how time fies. Mojo and I were snuggling on the couch (one of my favorite things to do) last night and we were talking about our future and where we were going to go with our lives and it was so surreal. It's weird to think that in 16 days not only will I no longer be a Fletcher but I'll be in a partnership. It will be Mojo and I working together towards common goals and being a partnership in all things.

Mojo and I met with our religious leader yesterday before our marriage and he gave us some great advice. He told us to remember the promises we make to the Lord and to each other and he said to make a promise to ourselves, each other, and the Lord that we would always hold a current temples recommend. I've spoke about the temple before in my post To Morgan... and my love for it.

I am so excited to get to marry Mojo and to be a part of his life. I can't wait to move into our new apartment this weekend and decorate it, to make it feel like home. And when the time is right I'm so excited to be a mom and to have the opportunity with Mojo to raise our children. I've seen Mojo with our nieces and nephews and I know he is going to be such a great dad. We're not ready to have children yet-but when we are they are going to be the luckiest kids in the world to have Mojo as a father.

Today's my get stuff done day

The sun is shining, the sky is clear, the flowers are blooming and there is sod to be laid. My sister Kristie needs the family's help to lay sod in her backyard today. Then my other sister is moving and I still need to pack up my house and clean because I move in a week!

Fit and Fabulous Friday #2

It's FRIDAY!! Wahoo-I am so glad that it's finally rolled around-this week was going by SO SLOW! Mojo and I are going to a concert tonight which I'm so excited for-just the two of us. I love it when we have date nights even though we spend all our time together it's so different when your going out on an actual date. Ok just a couple things...

First off you all deserve a BIG round of applause and a gigantic THANK YOU I have been feeling so loved lately with all the comments you have been leaving. I'm like a little kid on Christmas when I get a new comment-I get this big grin on my face, and do a little happy dance, it's pretty cheesy when you see it but I love them and I love you-so thank you.

Secondly, we are so close to our pampered chef giveaway! Only 4 more followers before we reach 50 GFF and I'll be able to tell you the cool stuff that's up for grabs. So tell your friends, family, co-workers, random strangers on the street, tell EVERYONE about Newlyweds on a Budget!!

Okay-now on to Fit and Fabulous Friday, I can't believe it's already time again for me to bear it all to you. This week has been pretty tough I started doing P90X more and have been "trying" really hard to maintain a 1200 calorie diet and drink LOTS of water. 

I've been doing really good with the water, I just have a water bottle next to me at work and I usually get in my required 64 oz if not more a day. One thing I've found is that after a while I get bored with plain water (weird I know-seeing as water has no taste) but I've found that squeezing some lemon or lime juice helps give it just a hint of flavor and makes it so much easier to get all my water. 

P90X has been kicking my trash. Literally. For the past three days I have hobbled, shuffled, and crawled my way across floors because every muscle, bone, and nerve in my body aches! I'm just starting to get to the point where I don't have to hold onto something to push myself off the couch and/or chair. It's been a long week because of that. I'll admit-I didn't do P90X last night. I wasn't feeling well yesterday at all. It's not been fun. I thought it might have been something I ate so I did what any grown up mature woman would do-I called my mom. What? She knows everything-seriously I'm not kidding. So I called her-explained to her my symptoms (some of them were not nice) and she said it probably had a lot to do with the stress I'm under from the wedding (no matter how hard I try not to stress-it's inevitable) and the hard work-outs. Between those two my poor body isn't very happy. So I gave myself a break yesterday. And it was fabulous. I blogged, I napped, I ate fajitas for dinner. It was great.

It was not however conducive to a diet and work-out plan, but you know what....I'm okay with it. I'm okay that I ate an entire almond poppyseed muffin from Costco (one muffin=650 calories-in case you were wondering) and I'm okay that I  pretty much laid around after I got home from work and didn't do anything productive whatsoever. Yup, I'm okay with all of that. 

So let's weigh in as of this morning....

My weight has really fluctuated this week on Wednesday I was down 1.3 lbs and then I gained most of it back so that by today my weight loss was down but now as much as I would have liked.
Weight loss this week: .7 lbs
Weight loss so far: 4.7 lbs (this is over the last 4 weeks-I've lost 1.2 lbs since we started Fit and Fabulous Friday)
Weight left to lose: 15.3 lbs
Goal this week: Do a harder work-out (I need to step up my game in this area) and get more sleep
Goal before wedding (19 days): lose another 2.5 lbs

I'm not quite as sore this morning which is good! And I'm feeling a little better-hopefully today will go better then yesterday. Now it's your turn. What have you been up to? Who doesn't love a bright yellow vase?

He ya'all it's Thursday which means only 2 more days before the weekend and I figured that was the perfect time for another tutorial. This one is SUPER easy and will be pretty short.

A little background-when I started planning my wedding I knew that I wanted vases to be a focal point in my centerpieces so I went to my local thrift store and found 8 identical vases (my guess is that someone else used them for a wedding) I thought they were perfect and at .50 cents a piece I was pretty happy about the price. Well as wedding plans starting getting underway I realized that the vases I had bought weren't going to work with the idea I had in mind for my centerpieces so I had 8 identical clear vases laying around with no idea what to do with them.

Until I found Amy at All in a Day's post about making her own mercury glass vase. I love the way the vase looked and decided to roll with it and make it my own.

So I took my vase got my new can of yellow spray paint (found at Walmart for 4 dollars-lesson learned-always buy spray paint at Walmart SO much cheaper then at craft stores) and had at it. I did two coats of yellow spray paint on the outside and then did a little coat on the inside. Problem was that I spray painted the inside coat to thick (the trick to spray painting is straight even lines and light coats that build on each other, it's the best way to avoid dripping) and it ended up dripping. Dang it! Oh well, it still looks great and no one but a perfectionist like me will even notice. Here are a few pictures of my yellow vase...

And I liked the yellow one so much that I decided to spray paint one white. 

The yellow one is more clean where as the white one has more texture. No matter how I took the picture I couldn't get the texture to show so you'll just have to believe me that it looks fantastic! At the moment the yellow will be in my (tiny) kitchen, my kitchen colors are red, blue, green, and yellow. And the white one will be in my (tiny) living room which will mostly likely be white, wood, and dark blueish (still have no idea what the couch we're getting from Mojo's parents looks like-it could be zebra stripped on one side and cheetah print on the other for all I know).

I am so happy with my two new vases that I've decided to step it up a notch. Since I have so many I have a couple ideas that I'm going to do as gifts-I can't post my ideas here for fear that the recipient will see but I'll be sure to post pictures after. 

I've got a menu planning project in the works that I'm in love with and I'm working on some fun scrap book themed projects to put in these two vases. Be sure to check back for those.

Today has been a great day.

- I woke up this morning and was able to surf through some of my favorite blogs before getting ready for work

- I was busy all day at work today so the day went really fast and I was able to enjoy it.

-I came home and did P90X for a 1/2 hour which kicked my butt but made me feel really good about myself.

-I started and am almost done with a two crafts that's I'll be posting tomorrow

-I watched a movie with my 2 roommates and Mojo which made me excited for the day Mojo and I start our family

-I just finished reading the blog posts for the day on all the blogs I follow (which are a lot) and they all made me smile.

-The sun has been shinning (most of the day)

-I was able to spray paint tonight because it wasn't pouring rain

-It's getting warmer each day

-It was light until 8:15 tonight

-I got to see and cuddle with Mojo (Tuesday and Thursday are his long days so we don't always get to see each other)

-You are reading this post-and that make me VERY happy!

Tutorial Tuesday #3

Welcome back fold for another Tutorial Tuesday. I'm not going to lie-this is one of my favorite posts of the weeks. I love posting tutorials, and blogging about everyday life, the wedding, etc. but I really love searching the blogosphere all week long looking for tutorials that I can feature on Tutorial Tuesday. And thanks to all the AMAZING linky parties out there-I find some really great tutorials that I would like all over my house. I literally have a word document that has about 30 tutorials that I want to feature on Tutorial Tuesday and I just keep adding to the list-I have a sneaking suspicion that it's going to become a never ending list.

But enough chit chat lets get on to the good stuff....

My favorite crafty bloggers Two Girls Being Crafty make an appearance again. If you need proof of my love for their blog you can check out my first Saturday Craft Time where I made a painting following their tutorial-which was a huge success-yay me! Anywho, this week I'm loving their frame wall-I'm obsessing over frame walls a bit right now and I've even started collecting frames to start my own. Can't wait to move into the new apartment and put it all together-and you can bet I'll be turning to this tutorial to get some awesome tips on how to do it.

My next tutorial is from All in a Day a fabulous blog I stumbled on during my linky party hopping this week. And I am L.O.V.I.N.G. this vase! I have 7 vases that I got from the D.I. (local version of good will) for .50 cents each intending to use them for my wedding-well we went a different way vase wise and now I don't know what to do with these vases but thanks to Amy I'm going to try this out on at least one if not a couple of my vases!

I would like this to hang in my entryway/living room/kitchen (lets face it in a 700 sq ft apartment everything starts to look like the same room) of my new apartment. I love the gold/bronze coloring she used and I think it's absolutely beautiful. I found Centsational Girl last week and couldn't wait to show you all this amazing mirror. I have a few other projects I need to finish up but this is on my list of things to do!

This last one I found Sunday night-showed it to Mojo and said "I want this!" He just laughed-his usual reaction to my must have craft of the moment. But no, I seriously love this, and I want one...no I NEED one! I don't feel like my words can accurately describe how adorable this bookshelf is so you'll just have to hope on over to Girl in Air to check it out for yourself.

Wedding Crafts

So after I posted Saturday Craft Time #2-which I'm still not sure how I feel about-I realized that I didn't want to have to wait until next Saturday to post another tutorial. The light bulb clicked on and I thought-this is my blog and I will break the mold and post a second tutorial in the same week. Shocker, I know. What can I say-I'm a rule breaker like that.

So this craft is one I already know that I love. In fact I love them so much that I (with the help of family members) have made dozens of them to be used at my wedding. I'm sure you've seen these floating around the blogosphere (I know I have) and if you haven't tried them yet you must! Their a great way to add color to a room or as decorations for any event. The original tutorial I used was at Craftymoods.com but I've made so many of these since that I can do them with my eyes closed. They are really easy and super inexpensive-something I and Mojo can both appreciate.

What you'll need:
-Tissue Paper (because I needed a lot I bought my tissue paper in bulk on line for about $20)
-Fishing wire (I found blue beading wire for necklaces at Joann's on sale-it worked great!)
-Scissors

I'm made a medium sized ball for this tutorial-you can make as many sized balls as you like just remember to times by 2...for the small balls you use 2 pieces of paper, medium 4, large 8, xtra large 16, etc. 

Start off with 4 pieces of tissue paper and fold them in half then cut along the folded line. This does not need to be a perfectly straight line-and don't worry if the edges aren't perfectly clean. Most of the imperfections won't even show and if they do they just add to it's character. For this tutorial I didn't make mine as thick as the ones I'll be using for my wedding because I just wanted to show the basics-but to make it thicker you just keep folding it in half-and be sure to remember to cut each time or it makes it harder later on. 

Once you've folded and cut (and remember if you want it thicker just keep folding and cutting-for the large sized one for my wedding I folded three times-medium sized ones I folded twice-and the small ones were only folded ones) you start to fold the tissue paper accordion style with the fold being about 1"-1 1/2 ". 

When your done folding you take your fishing wire (or in my case jewelry wire) and cut a piece. I wasn't exact about this-the original tutorial said 5-7 inches and that sounds about right but I always just trimmed if I had extra wire. With the wire you fold it in half and make a loop by twisting the two ends together like you would a twisty tie on bread.

(I apologize for the crappy pictures-I was using Mojo's camera and wasn't as comfortable with it as I am with mine)

Once your done making your first loop you tie the the wire around your tissue paper in the middle and make a loop with the two ends. Try to get as close to the middle as possible-if you don't it won't hang straight-a good way to check if your in the middle is to fold the paper in half and make sure that the wire is on the outside of the fold.

To play it up and make them even more fun you can cut the ends to make it different shapes. For my wedding I went with more rounded ends because I thought it looked a little more sophisticated-but for this tutorial I decided to make the ends into a triangle. Once your done attaching the hook you simple take your scissors and cut the ends of the tissue paper however you want-be sure that the two halves of the tissue paper are close to the same length or else your ball will look lopsided when your done.

Finally your going to unfold the ball one piece of tissue paper at a time. I like to hold it in the middle because I feel like it's easier to hold onto as I'm pulling each piece apart. Once I have about half of the tissue unfolded I flip it over and do the other side so they meet in the middle to form one half of the ball. Then you just switch to the other side of the ball and do the same thing.

And ta-da you made your first tissue paper pom pom. Hanging them is really easy you simply cut some more of your fishing wire-make a loop (or a hook if you think your going to re-arrange them) and loop it through the hole you made earlier on the tissue paper ball.

Then you create a hook with the other end of the wire and you can hang it where ever you like. Or, if your like me and loved the cascading look in the original tutorial you can hook your pom pom's together by simply looping the other end through another pom. 

The poms do get squished very easily but you simply re-fluff them and their good to go. I love these poms and everyone that has seen them has commented on how cute they are.
